Hey there! I'm Luke, a recovering Head of People 😆👋🏻
After spending over a decade in Talent and People Ops roles—everything from recruitment to RPO solution design, and eventually Head of People & Operations at a start-up—I got pretty fed up with old-school HR practices that got me nowhere.
While working on a product development project and collaborating with an inspiring team of external developers, I wondered, “Could product principles work in People Experience? 🤔”
Then I discovered “The Lean Start-Up” by Eric Reis - and got my answer! That book was my gateway drug into product principles and design thinking. Soon enough, my workspace was covered in sticky notes and a Kanban board was placed next to my desk. I was hooked!
I could not stop experimenting with with Product in PX - which led to founding Sapienˣ in summer 2022.

I have created this course for the Head of People (strategic People Lead) in start-ups and scale-ups, that’s what I know best! However, the course will be highly valuable for any HR / People practitioner who wants to break from traditional HR practices and adopt a more product-led approach to People Experience design.
Excellent question. Anyone who thinks the Ulrich model perfect for now and always… this is not for you 😆 Jokes aside, all models have their place, but if you are operating in a more corporate environment with 1000s of employees where HR plays a back office support role, there is nothing wrong with that at all, but this is course is probably not for you, it’s designed to enable lean, fast paced, growth focused People teams.
